Man playing traditional Kurdish instrumentThe acclaimed international performance showcase Solo Art, Solo Heart, devised and organised by City Arts came to Nottingham in 2009 and again in 2011 with a stunning line-up of international and UK performers. It brought artists together to promote their talents and forge new collaborations across geographical, cultural and artistic boundaries.

This showcase featured a unique mixture of dance, film, photography, poetry and music featuring performers from Kurdistan, Africa, India and the UK. Performances took place at New Art Exchange and Nottingham Contemporary to a full house on both occasions.

The idea for the international performance showcase Solo Art, Solo Heart came from Gaylan Nazhad, Co-ordinator of the Artists in Exile progamme at City Arts. Gaylan collected together a unique blend of international and local artists to create a stunning showcase of diverse performances.
